Matthew, owner of Matthew Kelly Construction, was born and raised in a small town 10 miles from the most northerly point of Ireland. As a kid he had early success in amateur boxing, but cannot say the same for school. He left school at 13 years old and immediately started working full-time in construction. From there he went on to work at an auto body repair shop and eventually had his own small repair shop where he repaired cars and sold parts of old junk cars on the side.
At 18 he emigrated to Australia and then California where he’s lived for the past 12 years.
In 2016 he started Matthew Kelly construction for a few reasons:
- He wanted more out of life
- He disliked working for other people
- He finally understood the incredible opportunities America had to offer
In 2016 with a truck and some tools he started to work for himself. He took on any project that came his way from small carpentry jobs to trash hauling.
Today Matthew Kelly Construction has four full-time employees and is on track to do over $2 million in revenue in 2024. His role in the company today is lead management, estimating and shared project management responsibilities.
